Overview

Ampullary (AM – poo – la – ree) Cancer is a rare cancer formed in the area of the digestive system called Vater ‘s ampulla. The ampule of Vater is where your bile duct and pancreatic duct join into your small intestine.

Squamous cell carcinoma is formed near many parts of the digestive system such as liver, pancreas and small intestine. As papillary cancer grows, it may affect these other organs.

Squamous cell carcinoma treatment often requires extensive surgery to remove large margins of cancer and healthy tissue.
